Philip Atanasov (b. 1998) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Amsterdam(NL) working in the field of art, architecture and design. His practice oscillates between functional pieces and conceptual work such as furniture, sculpture and installation through which he materialises his research-based practice.
Graduated from the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague in BA Interior Architecture (2021) and MA Contextual Design from Design Academy Eindhoven (2023), his projects revolve around the inherent relation between human and environment, situating the role of technology in-between and extrapolating on the convergence of the latter.
Working at the intersection of digital mediums and traditional craftsmanship, his recent projects question the implementation of technological innovation and development within the human body. Between replacement and enhancement, he focuses on the ideology that technology is rendering humans as quantifiable and measurable as a result of late capitalism. Between fact and fiction, natural and artificial, ideal and amoral, his practice reflects on societal dichotomies and aims to bridge the gap between past, present and near future.
